My Love/Hate Relationship with the Handsome Dude in a Sweater
Let me introduce you to the latest guy in my life, a rather complicated one at that. It's a love-hate relationship.
The story began on a dreamy getaway weekend with my creative bestie, Joanna. We escaped to a cozy Airbnb nestled in the woods of Elijah, Georgia. Days were filled with painting, laughter, and plenty of good food and wine. The only hiccup? The cabin's, dim lighting made it tough to see color so I started my dude’s portrait with a grisaille underpainting. I LOVED the warm and relaxed environment he was created in!
Back in my studio, I started working on his skin tones. But something felt... off. His ears and eyes seemed too big, too cartoonish. Yikes! I was not a fan.
Thankfully, Photoshop came to the rescue. By comparing the original photo to my painting, I saw exactly what needed to be fixed.
Digital cosmetic surgery to map the rescue. Skillfully wielding oil paints and a brush instead of a scalpel and sutures. After many measurements and adjustments, and feeling a bit like Dr Frankinstien my handsome dude in a sweater is complete. Ahhh…I’ll always have that warm fuzzy memory of our weekend art getaway in the Georgia mountains. Adding him to my #50Faces52weeks challenge.
